More About Author

Maynard Turow, born in 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland, had a remarkable journey that spanned over 65 years and encompassed diverse endeavors. After graduating from Baltimore City College, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the Battleship Missouri. His entrepreneurial spirit led him through three distinct business ventures.

His first venture was a successful chain of retail furniture stores, which he operated for 22 years. Following this, he founded and managed multiple Instructional ‘Contact’ Football Camps for youth and adults, across the United States and Canada for 23 years. Transitioning yet again, he spent the last 20 years of his career as a dedicated Real Estate Agent, specializing in serving the senior community where he lived.

Though Maynard’s professional path has spanned many fields, one constant has remained: the memory of his father, a gifted violinist whose life was cut short when Maynard was just seven. That early loss became a lifelong source of inspiration, culminating in a deeply personal mission to share his father’s story with the world. In 2022, Maynard made his debut as an author with The Last Concert—a gut-wrenching, joyfully bittersweet memoir of a violin virtuoso whose music lingered long after his final bow. The book struck a chord with readers, paving the way for a powerful literary journey. His second book, Dad, Can You Hear Me? (2024), offered a poignant lens into a young boy’s grief and resilience, capturing the quiet ache of growing up without a father. In January 2025, Maynard released Dad, I'm A Marine—a gripping account of boot camp, brotherhood, and battleship life, told with raw honesty and heart. His fourth book, half-finished: Dad, I'm All Grown Up (coming December 2025), weaves together themes of family, furniture, and football, blending nostalgia with humor and reflection. And in June 2026, Maynard will conclude his five-part series with Dad, I'm a Senior—a vibrant exploration of real estate, musical theater, and the unexpected joys of becoming an author.

Maynard has been happily married to Marlyn since 1956, and their family has grown to include two children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
